Far-Western University, established in 2010, has held its first convocation ceremony in Bhimduttanagar, Kanchanpur district, Nepal. Students were awarded their degrees by the nation's PM Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of the university. From the 282 graduating students, 120 attended the ceremony. .Senior Ophthalmologist Dr Ram Prasad Pokhrel was awarded the honorary Ph. D. degree by the University.
Addressing the first convocation ceremony on Saturday, the Prime Minister remarked that Nepali graduates have succeeded in acquiring better job opportunities in various countries. "Remarkable achievements have been made in the areas of health, education and technology since the restoration of democracy in the country", he added.
