Syria peace talks slated for January, 2014

A peace talk will be held on 22 January 2014 in Geneva between Syrian government
and opposition.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said both sides have agreed to sit for the talks for
the first time.

He said it will be unfortunate if they miss to grab the opportunity to end suffering and
destruction of the country.

The Bashar al- Assad government agreed to end the civil war through dialogue after
UN, US and Russia have been trying for months to do so.

But dispute still persists who should represent the opposition and the fate of President

More than 100,000 people have been died and millions were displaced after war starts
two years ago in Syria.
